Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Limited (GSECL) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of the Gujarat Electricity Board (GEB). GSECL is engaged in power generation and distribution in Gujarat. It delivers electricity through four distribution companies DGVCL, UGVCL, PGVCL, MGVCL.
These distribution companies are engaged in electricity distribution in south, north, west and central Gujarat respectively. Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSCL) is engaged in power generation and private companies work under GSCL’s flagship and guidelines. Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO) is involved in power transmission in Gujarat.
All the above said companies work under the holding company Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd (GUVNL) which is primarily engaged in bulk purchase and sale of Power. It also works in facilitation, co-ordination and supervision of its six subsidiary companies.

Gujarat Industries Power Company Limited (GIPCL) that operates a big 500MW lignite based power-plant at Mangrol near Surat have awarded EPC(engineering, procurement and construction) project to Lanco Infratech for 600 MW lignite based power project which is expected to reach the milestone of total generation capacity of 1100 MW in 2016-2017.
