Also known as ‘Diamond Capital of the World’, Surat city boasts of being the biggest manufacturer and exporter of most beautiful and exotic diamonds in the entire world. The city got its name from Parsi title ‘Bunder-e-Khubsurat’, that refers to being a beautiful port. That’s how it came to be known as, Surat! Surat is situated in the state of Gujarat, on the bank of river Tapi. It is spread over an important area on the Ahmedabad- Mumbai highway and is very well connected by all means of transport. With a myriad of industries like textile industry, diamond industry and a large number of medium and small-scale industries, the city has seen immense growth in every aspect in past few decades.
